Omega Physicians Now Offering SPRAVATO® Treatment for Depression
At Omega Physicians, we are committed to expanding access to innovative, evidence-based mental health treatments for adults who have not found relief through traditional therapies. As part of this commitment, we are proud to offer SPRAVATO® (esketamine) nasal spray, an FDA-approved treatment for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and for major depressive disorder (MDD) with acute suicidal ideation or behavior, when used alongside an oral antidepressant.
A New Option for Treatment-Resistant Depression
Depression can be complex, and for some individuals, standard antidepressants do not provide adequate symptom relief, even after multiple treatment attempts. SPRAVATO® was developed specifically for adults living with treatment-resistant depression, offering a new mechanism of action that differs from traditional antidepressants. For eligible patients, this therapy may provide meaningful improvement when other options have fallen short.
How SPRAVATO® Treatment Works at Omega Physicians
SPRAVATO® is administered as a nasal spray in our office under the direct supervision of our medical team. Because the medication may cause temporary side effects such as sedation or dissociation, patient safety is our top priority. Each treatment session includes at least two hours of post-administration monitoring to ensure patients are clinically stable before leaving the facility.
Omega Physicians is a REMS-certified SPRAVATO® Treatment Center, meaning we meet all federal requirements for safe administration, patient enrollment, and monitoring. Patients receiving treatment must arrange transportation home and avoid driving or operating machinery until the following day.
Comprehensive Evaluation and Ongoing Monitoring
Before starting SPRAVATO®, our clinicians conduct a thorough evaluation to determine whether this treatment is appropriate based on medical history, mental health needs, and cardiovascular risk factors. Blood pressure is monitored before and after each session, and patients are closely observed for any adverse effects throughout their care.
SPRAVATO® is used as part of a broader treatment plan, typically in combination with an oral antidepressant and ongoing mental health support.
A Focus on Safety, Ethics, and Patient-Centered Care
SPRAVATO® is a Schedule III controlled substance and is only available through a restricted program due to potential risks, including sedation, blood pressure changes, and misuse. At Omega Physicians, we follow strict safety protocols and ethical guidelines to ensure responsible use while prioritizing patient well-being.
This treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding and is not approved for pediatric patients. Our team works closely with each patient to ensure they fully understand the benefits, risks, and expectations associated with therapy.
Supporting Patients on Their Mental Health Journey
We understand that living with depression, especially when treatments haven't worked, can feel overwhelming. By offering SPRAVATO®, Omega Physicians aims to provide hope through advanced treatment options delivered in a supportive, medically supervised environment.
If you or your provider believe SPRAVATO® may be an appropriate option, we encourage you to contact Omega Physicians to learn more about eligibility, the treatment process, and next steps.
