Prioritizing Mental Health in Every Community: Honoring Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

At Omega Physicians, we believe health is more than physical—it's emotional, mental, and deeply personal. This July, we stand in solidarity with BIPOC communities in recognizing Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

This month honors the legacy of author, advocate, and mental health champion Bebe Moore Campbell, who worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the unique mental health struggles faced by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).

Why This Month Matters

Mental health challenges affect everyone, but access to care and support often looks very different across racial and cultural lines. Many in BIPOC communities face systemic barriers to quality mental health care, including stigma, underdiagnosis, financial strain, lack of culturally competent providers, and discrimination.

Recognizing these disparities is the first step toward real change. July is a time to uplift voices, foster understanding, and advocate for equity in mental health services.

Caring for Yourself, Your Community, and Pushing for Change

This year's theme reminds us that mental wellness is a collective responsibility. Whether you're:

  • Caring for yourself through therapy, mindfulness, or support networks
  • Supporting your community with compassion and advocacy
  • Pushing for systemic change in healthcare and policy spaces

…you are part of the movement for better mental health access and equity.

Resources are available at mhanational.org/july, offering tools for education, support, and action throughout the month and beyond.
